We are pleased to announce Ellerdine has been named as the Uks Favourite Small Stillwater as voted by readers of Total Fly fisher Magazine, we would like to say a big thank you to all who voted for us, and hope you continue to enjoy the excellent fishing we have to offer.
Another fantastic week at the lakes with a rod average over over 6 fish per angler, Lots of doubles this week with 11 recorded over the magical 10lb mark, Largest of the week went to Bill Drew Trench with a huge 17lb Rainbow taken on a Black and Green lure on Meadow.
Lots of Tigers and Browns still making an appearance this week with an 8lb Brown returned by Phil Coles Birmingham fishing a Orange Buzzer on Cranymoor.
Another big stocking gone in at the end of the week with nearly 100 fish over 4lb with many between 6-8lb and some in double figures.
We had a cracking heat of the "Monkey Match" with every angler catching fish!! 1st place went to former double World Champion Iain Barr, returning nearly twice as many as the next best angler, with an excellent 16 fish taken on nymphs and Fabs, 2nd place Mark Phillips with 9 fish, 3rd Gordon Hollinger with 8, and 4th was Dan Edwards with 7.
Largest Rainbow taken went to Harry Upton fishing a cormorant at 9lb 4oz. Lots of doubles returned in the match, with Gordon Hollinger retuning the heaviest at around 15lb, as did Mark Phillips landing a 13lb fish, with most other anglers having fish to 8lb. Only a few spaces for February match now so get in quick for your chance of £500
We have two rounds of the very popular Airflo World Bank Masters match coming up at Ellerdine, These will be March 1st and March 30th this match filled up fast last year so get in touch with Iain Barr if you would like to enter. www.iainbarrflyfishing.co.uk
Day Ticket anglers also had some good bags of fish on the other lakes, with fish to over 13lb. John Ruscoe fished a Enigma on Marsh for a brace of fish over 21lb with the largest at 13lb 6oz, Tony Smallman used a Hares Ear Nymph for 18 fish to 11lb, while Fred Richards had 16 too 12lb fishing a Black Lure.
We will be open all through Christmas as normal only shutting Christmas day, with stocking just before and during Christmas week, so there will always be plenty of fish in the lakes.
